After I picked up the pendants from you that day, I went straight to my sister's house so she could see them. Kat was also very happy with how the pendants turned out. Until you shared your ideas and thoughts, I could not even imagine such creations.
Our nieces haven't seen them yet. With this pandemic, everyone is teleworking and distancing. Janell lives in Washington state so I'm not sure when we'll see her. She also postponed her wedding from April to September of next year hoping things will be better by then. I can't wait for them to see the pendants! They are beautiful pieces and to know they came from their grandmother's wedding rings I know will make them cry

I remember it started around last year (2016) August when I began my search for the ring. Throughout the months I visited many of the local jewelry shops and though they had a huge selection of good looking ones nothing really stood out and said "WOW!" Shortly after, I was introduced to you by my sister and let me say meeting you was a blessing... I didn't think it was possible to get a customize ring these days. A lot of times people go to other jewelry stores and think they are getting everything they want in that ring but are usually settling. But not at Makaimoku Fine Jewelry. I met Sophia nearly 10 years ago at a bridal expo. Her enthusiasm and down to earth personality made me instantly feel comfortable and want to be her friend. So much so, that when I found out she had left a former employer where our engagement and wedding bands were purchased, I searched for her on Facebook so we could still connect.

We went in to see Sophia, a close friend of ours, who is great at what she does. She asked us some general questions to gauge my taste and before I knew it, I was being educated on all things diamond! I really had no idea what I was looking for...let alone that there are so many important factors to think about when choosing a stone. Next comes cost. Let's be realistic. I definitely didn't want something that would mean no travelling and cup of noodle for the rest of the year...and we were very candid in making mention of this. What was great about this is that she understood. No judging looks. Not so much as a flinch. She simply asked what our range was and proceeded to show us some amazing diamonds.
She offered to let me try on a few styles and once I leaned toward a certain cut she brought out a few loose diamonds for us to take a look at. I have to admit, I was very nervous in handling them but she was patient through the process and encouraged me to take a closer look through the scope. After I finally committed to one (trust me, it's a lot harder than you think when you consider that it will be on your finger FOREVER), I think she sensed a bit of how overwhelmed I was. After that decision I was in no condition to think about settings!! She suggested holding off on the setting and mounting it as a solitaire for now. This would give me some time to think about different styles and more importantly, to get used to functioning with a ring on my finger. She was right! I've been a proud fiance for only a week now but there's a noticeable difference in how I function with a ring on my finger (reaching in my purse, washing the dishes, etc.)
Next up...my setting! And you can bet that I will be back to see Sophia for guidance on that!
